Deepewali at the Vavuniya Prison


Inmates from Vavuniya Prison celebrated Deepawali on 06th November, 2018. A majority of inmates from Vavuniya Prison are Tamil Hindus but, in terms of prison rules and regulations, steps were taken to celebrate Deepavali by all Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim inmates giving priority to Hindi Customs. 

Ceremony has been organized by the Rehabilitation Officer, Mr. Asanga Elpitiya, under the guidance of the Superintendent of Vavuniya Prisons, Mr.F.M.Lahir,  and the supervision of the Chief Jailor, Mr.S.Indra Kumar. 

 

Nabi Festival for Muslim Inmates in Vavuniya


Muslim Inmates in Vavuniya Prison were given chance to observe the Prophet Muhammed’s birthday on 20th November, 2018.

On instructions of the Superintendent of Vavuniya Prisons, Mr.F.M.Lahir, steps have been taken to hold this ceremony organized with the aim of uplifting the national religious coexistence, for Muslims devotees and all other inmates.

 

 

Vavuniya Prison celebrates the World AIDS Day


On behalf of the World AIDS Day on 01st December, 2018, Vavuniya Prison together with STD Control Clinic of the Vavuniya Hospital has carried out several programs like distribution of hand outs, display of banners, wearing badges  etc. at the Vavuniya  Prison.

Program has been organized under the guidance of the Superintendent of Vavuniya Prisons, Mr.F.M.Lahir,  and the supervision of the Chief Jailor. And  also, cooperation from Rehabilitation section  and all other officers help was given to the campaign.
