Twenty one days (21) Residential Training Course for promoted sergeants in the Department of Prisons, was held on March 02, 2017 at the Centre for Research and Training in Corrections. .Read more

Nine Prison Officials working at the Department of Prisons, got promoted to the Post of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons on February 13,2017 and passed out after the training on February 25,2017 at the Centre for Research and Training in Correction. Read more

Peace Educational Workshop held by the Premrawan Foundation was carried out at the Centre for Research and Training in Corrections on February 18,2017.

Workshop was held with participation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Prison Reforms, Resettlement, and Hindu Religious Affairs and 15 Senior Executive Grade Officers from the Ministry, 10 Senior Executive Grade Officers from the Rehabilitation Bureau, and 20 Senior Prison Officers. Read more

According to a concept of the Superintendent of Mahara Prison, Mr. T.I.Uduwara, first batch of fifteen inmates form Mahara Prison who were started six months training course on Masonry on August 02,2016 under a retired trainer form the Vocational Training Authority, completed their training course successfully. Awarding certificates to those inmates and staring of training to second batch were held at the Auditorium of Mahara Prison.Read more

A musical show organized on a concept of the Superintendent of Mahara Prison, Mr.Thusitha Uduwara and in parallel with 69th Independent Day, was held for the betterment of inmates on Mahara Prisons Premises on February5, 2017. Read more

Saplings were planted at all prisons in Sri Lanka to commemorate the 69th National Independence Day. The main saplings planting event was held with the presence of the Chief guest Mr. W.M.P.G.Wickramasignhe, Secretary to the Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Affairs who invited by Mr. Nishan Dhanasinghe Commissioner General of Prisons at Wataraka Prison on 04.02.2017 at 3.30 p.m. Read more

A huge all Night Pirith Chanting and Morning Meal Dhana organized by the Buddhist Association of Prison Officers- Mahara were ceremonially held on January 21 and 22, 2017 at Dharmaloka Prison Vihara – Mahara to evoke blessing to His Excellency President, Hon. Prime Minister, Commissioner General of Prisons, his staff as well as their families and enrich earth and fields of those who suffer from the drought by raining on time. Read more

According to a concept of the Superintendent of Galle Prison, Mr.Jagath Weerasinghe, an awareness program named “ Noya Yutu Thena” was held to thousands of people on Full Moon Poya Day, the 12th January, 2017 at Pilana Raja Maha Vihar. Read more

A donation of five hundred thousand rupees awarded by Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara, on construction of Buddha Shrine at Bogambara Prison on 04th January 17, 2017 at Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy.
The Superintendent of Prisons Mr. H.A.M.Senarath Bandara Senanayake and the Assistant superintendent of Prisons Mr. V.M.P. Ranawake attended to the occasion. Read more


All Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony and followed by morning arms giving organized by the Buddhist Association of the Prison Department to obtain blessing for His Excellency President, Hon. Prime Minister, the Hon. Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs and his staff, all officers of the Department of Prisons and their families, and prison inmates were held on Saturday the 07th and 08th January 2017.
