He is the 21st Commissioner General of Prisons at the Department of Prisons established in 1905.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mr.Upuldeniya was a past pupil of the Royal College-Polonnaruwa and the Dharmaraja College-Kandy and an undergraduate from the University of Kelaniya with a special degree in Economics. Also, he earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Management as well as in Criminology. Also, Mr.Upuldeniya as an alumni of the University of Sydney \u2013Australia, holds a Master in Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mr.Upuldeniya has joined the Department of Prisons on 08.08.2001 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons and was promoted to the Superintendent of Prisons and Senior Superintendent of Prisons. Having been promoted to a Commissioner of Prisons in 2016, he has worked as the Commissioner of Prisons (Supply), Commissioner of Prisons (Administration), Commissioner of Prisons (Operation), Commissioner of Prisons (Intelligence and Security), and Media Spokesman. On 08 June 2020, he was promoted to the acting Commissioner General of Prisons.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A special parade was held on behalf of the newly appointed 21st Commissioner General of Prisons on 01.03.2021 and paid departmental tribute to his enormous service. We wish the new Commissioner General of Prisons the courage, strength, and best of luck to take the department towards a new era.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><style type=\"text\/css\">.fusion-body
