Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law, Mr.Harshana Nanayakkara, was on<br \/>\nan observation tour to Welikada and Magazine Prisons in Colombo on 27.03.2025 to investigate the<br \/>\ncurrent situation there.<\/p>\n<p>Minister&#8217;s special attention was also drawn to how rehabilitation and welfare activities of prison inmates<br \/>\nwork, overcrowding of inmates in prisons due to legal and policy issues as well as common facilities<br \/>\nprovided to inmates and threats and problems to life faced by prison officers in course of their duties.<br \/>\nAdditional Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, Mr. H.M.N.C. Dhanasinghe,<br \/>\nCommissioner General of Prisons, Mr.Thushara Upuldeniya, Commissioner of Prisons (Operations and<br \/>\nIntelligence), Mr.Gamini Dissanayake, Commissioner of Prisons (Rehabilitation) Mr.Jagath<br \/>\nWeerasinghe, Commissioner of Prisons (Industry) Mr.S.K. Pallethenna, Superintendent of Welikada<br \/>\nPrison, Mr.Nimal Shantha, Superintendent of Magazine Prison, Mr.H.M.S.N. Upuldeniya and many<br \/>\nsenior officials from the Ministry of Justice and National Integration and the Department of Prisons<br \/>\nparticipated to the special occasion.<\/p>\n<\/div><style
