The Phase I Rover Scout Leader Training Course, organized by the Sri Lanka Scout Association together with
the Department of Prisons for Class II Jailors and Rehabilitation Officers, was successfully held on May 12
and 13, 2026, at the Lee Dassanayake Training Centre in Mirigama.
45 Senior Jailors and Rehabilitation Officers from the Department of Prisons attended the course and Mr.
Senaka Pallethanna, Commissioner of Prisons (Rehabilitation) participated to the inaugural ceremony as the
Guest of Honor.
Mr. Prasad Hemantha Kumara, the Commissioner General of Prisons, and the Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Lasantha
Manoj Nanayakkara, the Chief Scout Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, conveyed their
congratulations to the special occasion online.
Mr. Dilum Duminda, Assistant Chief Commissioner (Rover) of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, and Mr.
Nimal Fernando, Leader Trainer, served as the course leaders, and the course was organized by Mr. Gamini
B. Dissanayake, Special Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association and Commissioner of Prisons
(Supplies and Services).
The National Training Team comprising several resource persons such as Mr. Thilakman Padmasiri, Training
Director and Headquarters Commissioner, Ms. Priyadarshani Jayakody, Special Commissioner and Leader
Trainer, Mr. Nimal Fernando, Leader Trainer, Mr. Dilan Somaratne, Leader Trainer, and Mr. Anil Wijekoon,
Headquarters Commissioner and Assistant Leader Trainer contributed their expertise during the training.
Additionally, a number of Wood Badge holder Scout Leaders currently serving in the Department of Prisons
also participated in the event.
