Several Vesak Celebrations had been organized by Colombo prison institutes on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day of the 2569th year of the Buddha.
Under the leadership of the Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr.Thushara Upuldeniya, several items such as exhibition of Vesak Lanterns, Vesak Bathi Gee (devotional songs) presented by officers of the Center for Research and Training in Correction, Bath Dansela on 12.05.2025 by the Sri Lanka Prison Emergency Tactic Force, Casawa Dansela organized by the Magazine Prison and Beli Mal Dansela organized by officers of Prison Headquarters on 13 and 14. 05.2025 were held to entertain public who visited Prison Vesak Zone.
In this year, several prisons competed for most creative Vesak lanterns in Prison Vesak Zone, and among Vesak lanterns, Thaldena Prison won first place, Negombo Prison second place and Badulla Prison third place.

Dissanayake, Commissioner of Prisons (Rehabilitation), Mr.Jagath Weerasinghe, Commissioner of Prisons (Supply and Services), Mr. Prasad Hemantha, Commissioner of Prisons (Supply), Mr.Senaka Pallethenne, Senior Superintendent of Welikada Prison, Mr. Nimal Shantha, Superintendent of Mahara Prison, Mr.Rajew Silva, Superintendent of CRP Prison, Mr.Rohana Galappatti, Superintendent of Magazine Prison, Mr.H.M.S.N.Upuldeniya, Superintendent of Kalutara Prison, Mr.Def, Assistant Superintendent of Sri Lanka Prison Emergency Tactic Force, Mr.Prasad Premathilaka and several senior prison officials and invited guests took part in the occasion.
