The 9 th Best Annual Report and Accounts Awards–2024 (BARA Awards–2024), jointly organized by the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA SL) and the Association of Public Finance
Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL) was held on February 5, 2026, at the Bandaranaike Memorial
International Conference Hall.
Several invited guests including the Hon. Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Mr.Nishantha
Jayaweera, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Secretary to the Ministry of Public
Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Mr. Aloka Bandara, President of CA Sri
Lanka, Mr. Tishan Subasinghe, Vice President of CA Sri Lanka, Ms.Anoji de Silva, President of
APFASL, Mr. V. Kanagasabapathy, and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Sri Lanka, Ms.Lakmali Priyangika, attended to the ceremony.
The Performance Report\– 2024 submitted by the Department of Prisons was awarded the Silver Award
under the Central Government Departments category. The event was attended by Additional
Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr.R.Prasad Hemantha Kumara, and Deputy Director (Planning),
Ms.K. Mahathanthila.
At this ceremony, over 600 public and affiliated institutions participated in this year's awards ceremony. It
is noteworthy that the Department of Prisons was previously awarded the Gold Award for Public
Departments in 2021 for its 2020 Performance Report, and has been continuously recognized for three
consecutive years. The consecutive recognition was achieved as a result of the collective contribution
made by the Accounts Division, Planning Division, and other divisions of the Department of Prisons,
together with all prisons acting as one team.
