The Annual Conference of the Association of Public Finance Accountants (APFA) and the Awarding Ceremony for best Performance Report and Accounts were held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo on the 2nd December 2022.
It was jointly organized by the Association of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) and the Association of Public Finance Accountants (APFA) of Sri Lanka. The Department of Prisons was awarded the golden award in the departmental category for the performance report and accounts submitted in 2020, and Commissioner General of Prisons Mr.Thushara Upuldeniya and Deputy Director (Planning) Miss Kanchana Mahathantila participated in receiving the award.
The award was received as a result of team work by the staff grade officers of the Department of Prisons, and this is the first time that the Department of Prisons has won this award. The high level of accounting and performance in the past years was the reason for awarding this award.
The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Mahinda Siriwardena, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Mr. Priyantha Mayadunne, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Mr. Sanjay Bandara, Sri Lanka participated in this event. V. Kanagasabhapathy, President of the Association of Public Financial Accountants and other gentlemen addressed the occasion.
