Sixty eight teams representing Sri Lankan States institutes, competed at the State Services Soft Ball Cricket Tournament and ultimately, the Department of Prisons and the Fire Services Department teams were qualified to the final match.
Final match was held at the Colombo Shalika Ground on 12.01.2023 and after breathtaking competition, prison team led by Class 11 Jailor, Mr.U.A.K.Rupasinghe won the runner up. Cricketer, D.A.D.G,Nirmal from the Sri Lanka Prisons Emergency Action and Tactical Force was awarded as the Best Bowler of the competition for his outstanding performance.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr.Thushara Upuldeniya called up and offered his congratulations to players of winning Team on 23.01.2023. Additional Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr.Chandana Ekanayaka, Superintendent of Prisons- Headquarters, Mr.Gamini B. Dissanayaka, Chairman of the Prison Cricket Association and the Superintendent of Prisons, Mr.Jagath Weerasinghe, Secretary of the Prison Cricket Association and the Class 11 Jailor, Mr.Prabudda Siriwardana also took part at the ceremony.
